    features course eval

The mechanics of the survey instrument are the strength of CoursEval™. Customizable from beginning to end, CoursEval™ will meet the varied needs of faculty and administrators at the course, department, division, school, college, and university levels. Question Categories that users build can reflect the interests of all groups on campus. Surveys created are focused on aspects of course content and instructional methodology that reflect the local culture. CoursEval™ fits neatly into the governance structure of the institution.

Security of data and anonymity of responses are critical elements of the course evaluation process. Those who participate in any given phase of this evaluation process rely upon these safeguards. CoursEval™ provides for user authentication and a wide array of access levels to survey results, based on the roles participants play in the evaluation activities.

Access by participants, to all phases of CoursEval™ , is one of the strongest features of the software. Timely access to evaluation survey results enhances the planning, development, and revision of curricula and methods of instruction. Weeks, or in many cases months, need not pass before information is available to the consumers of survey.

    Reporting Features
CoursEval™ offers customized reporting options that provide several views of the data configured by the software. Some of the more widely used views include:

    Individual Faculty Member
    >
One's own instructional performance in a single course section
    >
    Overall course results
    >
    Comparison of one's own performance:
    >
Over sections of the same course
    >
Over sections of all courses he/she taught
    >
    To other faculty who:
    >
Are within the same academic department or division
    >
    Teach anywhere within the institution

Academic Administrators such as a Department Chair, Dean, Division Head, and Vice President for Academic Affairs/Institutional Research/Improvement/Provost may access:
    >
Specific performance of all faculty members
    >
Overall results for all course sections
    >
    Comparative analysis of:
    >
An individual faculty member to all faculty members within a given unit and institution wide.
    >
    All Schools/Divisions within the institution.
    >
    All Departments within the institution

    Longitudinal Analysis
CoursEval™ also provides a comparison of several of the results listed above over time from the individual faculty level to institution-wide level that is inclusive of faculty, departments, and divisions/schools.

    Internship/Rotation Surveys
A pressing need in virtually all health profession programs is to evaluate the developing skill sets that students acquire during course experiences “in the field”. Educational opportunities of this sort (internships, externships, co-ops) , are increasingly popular in programs in Education, Engineering, Law, Business, and in the liberal arts and sciences as well.

CoursEval™ contains a powerful survey tool that allows the student to evaluate the educational experience in the field to provide feedback to the program coordinator about his/her experience. The other powerful component allows the supervisor or clinical director at a teaching site to assess the skill set and educational progress of individual students according to whatever rubric or standard the program chooses.

    Peer Review
This feature will provide the means for students to evaluate other students within a class over the term of the course. Results can be viewed by students and faculty alike. Peer review at the faculty or academic administration level is growing in popularity among colleges and universities and can be supported by CoursEval™.
